Why one-on-one, individualized tutoring?
While from time to time we teach classes at high schools and libraries, 3RPrep specializes in one-on-one tutoring.
1. Focused personalized attention.
The tutor only works with one student at a time. There are no other students to distract the session.
When two or more teens are gathered there is bound to be distraction.
2. The session is completely focused on the needs of that one student.
Even in a small group, each student has individual needs. One student may ask a question about a skill or concept that another student has mastered.
Some students may not ask an important question for fear of embarrassment. Others may dominate the class with either answering every question – or worse – not participating at all.
There are few things as bad as to waste a teenager’s time telling her something she already knows.
3. Student-Driven Instruction
With one-on-one tutoring, there is no syllabus or lesson plan. Instead through reflection, the student tells the tutor what he mistakes he made, which ones he corrected, and which mistakes he needs to be explained.
Much of test prep is not teaching, but reminding! Helping a student to remember lessons that he learned years ago.
4. Best Tutoring Value
One-on-one tutoring is simply more intense and more personalized. It produces better results in less time, creating value.
